About this video: In this video, we show you exactly how to make a Minecraft server in 1.16. We go over every single step of how you can create a Minecraft server in order to play Minecraft with your friends in 1.16. Whether it is the first time you have ever set up a Minecraft server, or if you are just needed a refresher on how to make your own Minecraft server for Minecraft 1.16, this video will show you everything you need to do in order to host a Minecraft server for 1.16 to start playing Minecraft with your friends!

First things first, I do want to mention that this server is just for your friends and family. It isn’t meant to be a public server. This Minecraft server is also hosted on your own computer meaning you will need a decent computer to be able to run it, and it is only online when your computer is online. If you want a public server or a 24 hour server, then you will need a server from a Minecraft server host like Apex Minecraft Hosting. You can check them out in the description above.

Now, in order to make a Minecraft Java Edition server on your computer, you will need to download the Minecraft 1.16 server file. You can find the link to this file in the description above. When you click it, it will take you to our website where you can click the green ‘Download Minecraft’ button. That will take you to the Minecraft 1.16 server download page. Here, click on the link that says ‘minecraft_server.1.16.jar’. The file will then begin downloading. You will need to keep/save the file depending on your browser.

Once the Minecraft server file has been downloaded, create a folder on your desktop and drag-and-drop the server file into it. Open the folder, and double click on the ‘server.jar’ file. Some folders and files will load into the folder. Now, open the document called ‘EULA.txt’ with notepad. Change ‘EULA=false’ to ‘EULA=true’. Save the document and close it. Double click on the ‘server.jar’ file again, and your Minecraft server will start up for Minecraft 1.16!

At this point, you could join your Minecraft server. However, in order to play Minecraft with your friends, you will need to port forward. This is a super simple process, and it is covered in-depth in the video. However, for now, just know that you will need to forward port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocols. When you do this, your friends will be able to play on your Minecraft server using your public IP.

Congratulations! You now know how to make a Minecraft server for Minecraft 1.16 on PC.
